Maverick1337- Memory clock is default, haven't done any manual o/c'ing yet. Just testing the card with out of the box settings.
Thanks, I figured that was happening, I just wanted to make sure the card was stable with stock settings. I'll tinker with the fan speeds a bit later.
Decided to test my card a bit further and Heaven ran just fine for ~7 hours. Boost clock during this run was 1241 and my temp capped at 74. (Fan was on auto and running @45%)
It's a shame that some people are having issues with this model. I'm coming from a GTX580 (MSI Lightning)- and this...
To shed some positive light here, I installed my Asus GTX 670 TOP on Friday and it's been running just fine. Now, I only ran Heaven for like 20min, but I've played D3 for hours and haven't had a single hiccup.
On a side note, the boost is supposed to go to 1137? MSI Afterburner shows it going...
I'm currently playing on expert. I feel it's a good balance.
I've tried adept just to mess around, and the tension of the battles is lost. Things die too easily. (I'm level ~15 or so.)
The way I see it, if something is killing me too easily, then I am not ready to fight it yet.
Actually, I believe with enhanced stereo on, you don't even get the rear channels. I noticed that something didn't sound right after playing the first 2 levels.
I'd love to know what the differences are between Hi-Fi, War Tapes, Home Cinema, etc.
Should be receiving the Asus ROG GTX 580 today, can't wait to overclock that sucker and see where I can get. Will post a couple of pics once it's in. Upgrading from a GTX 275, it was about that time.
Side note: I'm finally able to access my account again after several years. (Thanks to Kyle!)
Thanks for the info.
Hmm, I already have my ext HD setup with different partitions and whatnot,. I don't really want to do it all again, if for whatever reason the router doesnt support NTFS/FAT32. The D-link in question does support NAS, there's a diagram depicting that over @ their site.
I decided to try out the new D-Link DIR-655 and it has a USB port. Stupid question time, would I be able to connect my external USB HD to this port and allow it to be accessed by my computers on the network? If yes, does it matter which external HD it is? (I picked up a WD MyBook 250gb - plain...
If you have an ATI card, I'd stay away from the Apple Cinema Display. I tried one a couple of weeks ago and it wouldn't display an image during the POST. It would only kick in once Windows initializes it. After searching around, it seems that it is in fact a problem with the Apple LCD and ATI...
What are my chances of getting an S-IPS panel? Has anyone ordered this LCD recently and gotten an S-IPS?
Also, are there any other 20" panels that use the S-IPS panel? (Besides the Apple 20")
Right, thanks for the info guys. Im not worried about backing anything up right now. This is a brand new MBP, and I dont have any critical information on it. I just didn't want to reconfigure windows, tweak, optimize, etc, etc. Heh, funny thing is, the more I use OSX, the less I want to boot...
Thanks for the link. Tried this out not too long ago, and boy does it work. My temps dropped from ~47c to ~32-33c . I can actually work with this thing on my lap now. Now I need to find something similar for when I'm in Windows.
(This just fixed my main complaint on the MBP.) --
I'm trying to copy a file from my windows system to my new and shiny MBP.. I setup sharing just fine, bur for some reason, it's taking forever to transfer the file over. (I'm accessing the Workgroup wirelessly) When I'm on the windows side (on the laptop) it transfers just fine..
Any ideas...
Well, I finally got it. :) I decided to just go with the 15.4" screen. It's still sitting in the box though, haven't had the chance to play around with it yet. Anything I need to do or should do at first? :D
A different world awaits me now. ;)
Bare with me guys, this is my first time switching over to a Mac and I'm a little excited and cautious at the same time. I have a couple of more questions that I'm sure are already answered elsewhere, but would appreciate some feedback.
1.) When in XP can you read data from the Mac partition...
I'm almost sure I am going to pick one up this week. After reading on the C2Ds, it doesn't seem like a substantial improvement to make me want to wait. One last question for now, when I install XP on it, does windows detect all the hardware ok? Sound, wireless nic, usb, etc.. and do I have to...
Well, need is out of the question. I don't need a laptop, I would like to have one.
And it's obvious that better tech is always around the corner, the point is, are we reaching the time for a new cycle, or is the current tech going to be around for a while? If I'm going to spend that kind of...
Anyone know if Apple will be updated the MBPs anytime soon? I'd hate to take the plunge and something comes out 2 months after. (Like an update to Core 2 Duos..)
According to this page, Apple was supposed to announce some sort of update, but I haven't been able to find out any information.
Just wanted to say that you can buy the game @ Circuit City (in-store) and still get the $12 discount.
I'm having fun with Madden, but I'm feeling a bit of dejavu from '06. (360 version) Need to play it some more.
They are both great cards, I'd go with the ATI however.
I went from a X800XT PE to a 7800GTX when it first came out, and while the performance increase with the GTX was substantial, the first thing I noticed was horrible shimmering. Later driver updates fixed it a bit, but after switching...
So based on one person's negative experience, you won't buy a product? Hell, if I went that route I don't think I'd have enough parts to build a computer.

Try again. They both look the same. I've witnessed both versions first-hand, and they look the same. (Without any INI tweaking on the PC version.)

Thanks for the replies. I've actually cancelled the HD600s, and was going to get the Audio-Technica's A900s. I've been reading around, and supposedly they are much better for gaming and do not require an amp.

Hi all, I've decided to get some better cans for pc gaming.
I'm currently using the Sennheiser HD280s, but they're pretty uncomfortable, and I wanted something better. (I ordered the HD600s) -- In any case, I've read that I will need some amplification for the 600s, will the livedrive of the...
I noticed the difference when I went from my X800XT to my 7800 GTX. San Andreas is the worst offender, shimmering and texture aliasing all over the place. It's been somewhat toned down after selecting different settings.
On the bright side, I read over @ nvnews that nvidia is aware of the...
Wow. I've never been into the whole gaming with headphones, but the 3d positioning on this card is amazing. .. I'm still in awe. Playing BF2 I can easily distinguish where everything was around me. I almost don't want to use my HT. :/
