The H50 is the quietest solution I have found that allows for moderate OCing. Obviously the NT06 or something would work and be silent but it runs hot.
No news on any mitx boards coming down the pipe. DFI had a nice board but bailed on us.
What we need is a mini itx board where they can put all the heat generating components on the top and place a heatsink on it (talkin about the fets here) and then move the cpu socket over where DFI had it...
Ha really? I've long said I believe (as in I have 0 proof) all the motherboards are basically the same design stolen from one another...either that or one plan sold to a bunch of companies. The Qpack for example was duplicated 4-5 times over by different companies (face only). From what I am...
Right, I'm still excited though. The Fusion processes (just noticed that is wrong in the title...oops) are going to be pretty low end at first. I still think it is a cool concept and am excited ASUS is actually making an AMD product at the beginning stages of a CPU's life-cycle for once.
If case you haven't read:
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2010/08/12/asus-has-amd-fusion-mini-itx-in-development/1
Just a quick titbit for small form factor lovers: in our meeting today with Asus, the company revealed that it's designing a mini-ITX board (which will probably be home...
I didn't pick up what case you had but with the SG05/SG06 it works. The only problem is the heatsink backplate tends to interfere with a lot of the components on the back of the mobo. I got an example of this at SFFClub.com
I'd love to but you can probably guess massive site problems and a heavy work load at my real job as caused me to suspend reviews for a bit...booo.
Don't be amazed by this but it is basically the same as the SG05 standard PSU only with more juice and it is black with sleeved cables. The cables...
The problem seems to be the motherboard folks. You might now more than I but it seems like one motherboard design is created and the others either copy or rebadge. From what I remember talking to some folks a few years back you really only have one-two companies making motherboards and then...
A little clarification to what James said.
It should arrive at the SilverStone California warehouse on or about the 1-2nd week in July which means retailers a few weeks later. This is the same time the SG07 will arrive (apparently on the same boat).
What Danny said sounds good to me. You can play around with the motherboard if you like...not much different in the current AM3 chipsets (kind of just small upgrades).
You are worried mostly about RAM so just get a board that can handle a lot of fast ram well.
Kind of disappointed in Gigabyte. There is no reason to put the CPU socket on that side. It only serves to limit you.
While i'm not 100% sure, I believe the companies kind of work off the same basic model and just customize it to their own specs...kind of like the Qpack, Micro Fly, etc...
Yeah, it's a huge problem...even more so with the SG07 since putting in an H50 (the best cooler) will be a challenge
Interesting that it only used 4pin too.
Just get your everyday AMD or Intel mATX board so you get the 4 ram slots since RAM is most important. I don't think you need to worry more than that :)
Gigabyte, ASUS, and maybe MSI seem to make the best mATX boards.
Yeah, I think the 450w PSU needs to become a standard in the SG05 and SG06. The new video cards are just being lame.
By the way, the SG06 and SG05 and not any different in internal dimensions for that person saying it was 5mm longer. The extra length is from the front bezel.
You should trim the cables as well....they are just as long as the original which is frustrating because you never need that much slack...and if one of you actually do then screw you because you ruined it for the rest of us :p
The gigabyte board might not be all it is cracked up to be. The DFi is currently the best board and probably will be for the next few months. The USB issues seem to be a vocal few for wireless adapters but then again no one really knows why they have these issues. Almost like a lucky set of...
Wow, ECS told you that? That is probably the worst support answer I've heard in a long time. The basic answer was "I don't know".
It's almost a competition between mobo manufacturers for worst tech support these days.
