no warranty or apple care. 3rd mac I've lost in 2 years. I normally only get the warranty for the laptops. This will be my last imac Ive decided to make a hackinosh and have a machine that is expandable.
Thanks for the pic. Wiring looks like it might be a little difficult.
When I try to start it up. I can but my ear to the lower left and hear that fan try to kick in. It clicks and then does nothing. I guess I'll have to find a powersupply on ebay.
I'm sure I'll have to over pay for the part...
Anyone got a DFI x38 @ 3.4 on air? Is so how much voltage are you giving the cpu?
I have mine at 3.2 but it becomes unstable if I push it any harder. I'm noobish when it comes to oc-ing but it seems that 3.4 should be a good goal for 24/7 use.
Thanks
Always get macs from Apple. They will give you better support if anything goes wrong. Its so much harder throwing a 3rd party in the mix. It can cause annoying inconveniences in the mix and you also might not get the latest build of components like logic boards that are always getting re optimized.
My imac 1st gen intel won't boot. I can home the other day and the machine was asleep. I woke it then it just died. I retried to reboot and nothing happened no bios loading no grey screen, no blue screen, no apple nothing.
I then unplugged it had help down the power button to see if that...
Anyone know where I can get some mobo pushpins. Ones that would work with NB and SB heatsinks. Spring loaded would be great!
I've looked all around and I can't find them anywhere.
Might as well try the Koss ones since they are so cheap. I'm just a little worried since I use sony and jvc headphones for my ipod and work machine that i my mind suck and cost 2x as much as those.
How about any of these?

I would like the functionality of volume control
Hi I'm looking for 5.1 or 7.1 headphones for gaming. I willing to spend around 100 for something that is high quality and going to last. Everything I've looking at seems cheap even the more expensive stuff.
Can anyone make some recommendations?
Must have been my ambient temp I'm running close to 3.2 now and my highest system temp from speed fan was 52c. I tried to run at 3.4 but system was crashing. I think I need to add more voltage to the cpu.
Do you have a link to the FutureMark App? I'm running vista and it doesn't seem to boot properly. Thanks for that thread link btw. :)
UPDATE:
I ran 3dmark 06 and scored 12,318
I had this board. It had major heat issues with the chipset. The stock cooling is horrible. I ended up getting a DFI LP LT X38 and it been a much better experience with much cooler temps. Haven't had much time to play with it but its easily running my q6600 at 3.2. Over the weekend I'm going to...
I do have a really high ambient temp, but as is not enough heat for any concern. What volt setting are you currently using? I have plenty of airflow so maybe I'll push it a little harder. ;)
I just got a DFI LT x38 and I'm cooling air and I also need to figure out the new bios.
I'm also somewhat of a OC noob.
Currently I'm using a 9 @ 350 and its seems very stable as far as everything else goes I'm still learning. Not sure what to do next.

Hi,
I'm a noob when it comes to overclocking and some direction/advise would really help me out.
I got my new system running solid at 3153MHZ at 9x multiplier. My board is a DFI LT x38 all other sys specs can be seen in my signature below.
What should my next steps be? I haven't changed...
Have the ati tool loaded but I can't seem to change the core or mem settings. When I click on the setting tab there is no device in the drop down.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
I'm a moron too I blew out a new mobo 2 weeks ago removing stocking cooling. These things happen sometimes.
If your warranty is still valid I would return the PSU before trying to open it up. Maybe you can get a new one for free. Not sure if its the board or PSU but I would verify the PSU...
I'm using a ZALMAN 9700 for my cpu. the mobo comes with a nice NB cooler.
Pic of NB and CPU cooler.

I also have 4 120mm fans and a 80mm in the case.
UPDATE:
I have been looking at multipliers online and most seem to be using 9x333 for 3ghz...
Go Dell or Apple. Dell has more ports and is cheaper. These are the top of the line monitors for these sizes. I have apple at work and dell at home. Its great no complaints has color profile for osx built in if your a mac user too.
also dont get the cheap dell 22" it sucks. viewing angle is...
Hi I just set up my new DFI LT x38 and I was wondering if anyone is using the power ports by the pci slots/gpu to improve stability? Currently I'm only using a single ati3870 and not sure if it would help to plug in the optional power for pci cards.
OK I'll give that a shot. I can easily get this ram at 900mhz its spec is 1066mhz.
So its better to have a faster FSB and a lower multiplier?
Thanks for the help.
Hi I just ran a stress test for my new DFI LP LT x38 with a Q6600 air cooled.
