I'm looking to buy 2 monitors, primarily for web design and development... with some gaming thrown into the mix. I'm considering between this NEC, Dell U2413, Samsung S24A850DW, and Samsung S24A650D (MVA 1080p).
Anybody have any insight into what would be the better buy?
How is the Samsung S24A650D? I was originally thinking I wanted 1920x1200 in something like a Dell U2410, but they suck up a lot of electricity... so now I'm considering these Samsung VAs.
I like some of the older notebook designs... the new ones not so much. I also like saving money, so if an older i5 or i7 is much faster than a ULV, I'd opt to go in that direction. If a new ULV could handle some heavy work (Adobe stuff, etc) with no sweat, then that would be an option. I would...
Portability is important, but so is general CPU/memory/hard-drive performance... but only for work such as Adobe stuff. I don't need to game on my notebook. Would a brand new ULV be a better choice for heavy Photoshop use, compared to the older i5?
I'm wondering if the fact that something is ULV, if it really impacts performance compared to older "regular" processors such as the i5 M series... or even current regular processors. I'm trying to figure out if I should buy a new ULV notebook, or go with older technology to gain performance and...
I've found 1920x1200 to be about perfect DPI for me at 24 inches. If I could find similar DPI in 27"+, or if Windows had better scaling I would go bigger. I guess for now I'm stuck with multiple 24" panels.
I would like IPS and matte, non-aggressive AG coating and if possible I don't want to...
I do a lot of programming, graphic design and multimedia work, and some gaming also. I like the idea of a 27" or 30" for games, but I'm worried that text size would not be so great for my eyes. So I'm thinking of getting 24" in a dual setup.
So far I'm thinking of getting 2 of either the Dell...
I think it might be good to jump up to a 27", but the thing that worries me is a higher resolution. I can deal with 1080p on a 24" but any text small than that would be difficult for me to work with.
Would I get much out of going with the S27A650D in terms of gaming, as opposed to a Dell...
I just ran across this article: http://thechart.blogs.cnn.com/2011/08/26/what-the-yuck-will-staring-at-a-computer-make-me-blind/
And it got me wondering if there are any benefits of certain technologies (IPS, LED, VA) or frequency/Hz related to the health of eyes.
Anybody know anything...
I bought the Silverstone GD05, but I haven't received it yet so hopefully it's cool. The reviews are good and if you must conceal the optical drive there's a GD04 for that. Here's my build: http://www.slickbuilds.com/build/view/2
I actually used to be pretty bullish on 16:10, but really if you do the math, 2x 27" 16:9 displays are more pixels than 3x 24" 16:10.
3x Dell U2410: 6,912,000 pixels
2x Dell U2711: 7,372,800 pixels, and a bit more vertical space!
I'm mostly wanting 24", but I can go higher. I play a lot of FPS, but also do a lot of programming, graphics work, database and information architecture work. I might actually want 3 monitors for productivity but I'll start with 2.
I just got two of the U2410 monitors, and the colors are slightly different on them. I can't tell which one is more accurate and which one is more washed out or has a tint. Is this a normal situation? And is there any possibility that the hues or saturation is just a tiny bit off and could be...
