Possibly. I'm no aerodynamics guru or anything, but maybe the slower speed fan wasn't pulling the hot air out of the HSF fast enough and letting it linger?
Either a bad chip or the mount is still not right. I have a 212+ in P/P with the HSF fan pulling and an Antec Tricool at medium pushing. 45 minutes of P95 Max Heat running 4.7Ghz and the cores are sitting at 65/71/69/68. Last idle was 37/38/35/37.
Unrelated, but I think I got a gem of a 2500k...
It's not just the 555s. I have a pair of 518's and the cracks developed on both sides after not even 1 month. The 518s were bought to replace my 555's that completely cracked. Great headphones but abysmal structural design.
Yeah, I just picked up an STX to go with my Sennheiser 518s and all I can say is wow. Is this what I've been missing my whole life? I'm listening to MP3's that are medium quality and astounded at all the nuances and detail in the audio. I can't believe they're the same songs. Cannot recommend it...
By design, I meant the fact that they continually have the problem with cracking. They are extremely comfortable once the headband is broken in (minor "clamping" sensation when brand new), and the sound I feel is superb. The cracking is the only downfall of them.
Basically this:

I love my Sennheisers, but I hate that the design is horrible and they are doing nothing to fix it. Had a pair of 555s, now on a pair of 518s. Had the 555's for a little over a year, and I've had the 518's for less than 2 months, and there's already a crack developing where the drivers connect...
My biggest problem is the developers intentionally withholding content from the paid version of the game with in order to release it as paid DLC. DLC content within a week of the release date? Yeah, that's not shady at all.
I've seen a clients laptop that was seized be returned with the LCD completely cracked and shattered. The desktop also had giant dents and dings.
Don't know if it occurred in transit or not, though.
I had the 680s before I picked up the 5500s. Blew the sub out while at college - spilled beer onto the amp and it blew the fuck out. Picked up the 5500s for $200 shipped from Amazon. One of the best decisions I've ever made. Hard to believe I've had them for 4 years.
I bought the 5500s after I blew the amp in the 560s(totally my fault), and the 5500s seem a little clearer at louder volumes and the bass is louder and boomier.
I have one and it's the bee's knees.
Great for getting stuff off a laptop drive or an old drive you got laying around. Don't have to take the panel off and deal with finding a plug.
I scored a set last December for $220 shipped from Amazon. Didn't know how much the price would jack up after.
Great set of speakers and well worth the money.
I remember I bought a set in December of 05 for $219 shipped from Amazon. Figured I was getting a deal, but didn't know they'd skyrocket to like $260 a month after I bought them.
Great investment I'd say.
I actually saw the deal about 5 minutes after it became known. I actually walked away from the computer and thought about ordering them and if I really wanted to spend money on a new monitor after I just bought one 4 months ago. The thought of buying 3+ and selling the spares never even crossed...
