The symptoms
First the video car blew, fan died and a couple caps blew, still booted, ran like shit.
Replaced the card, still boots slow and windows continuously crashes. I can't even install windows 7. it gets to...
Get it powder coated. Paint is applied with a static charge so it's attracted to the metal like dust to a tv, then baked on to make it tough as nails.
You can powder coat yourself with an electric oven and a decent powder coating system from Harbor Freight.com
If you paint it with the cans...
I swear I've seen these with schrader valves on them to refill with plain old air.
But seriously, just get a small air tank, like 5 gallons and it'll last a while on one fill up and I've seen them as cheap as $30 and with upkeep maybe $.50 a refill at the gas station or free if you have a...
Why hire knowledgeable staff when the majority of the customers at these stores are complete morons and will eat up anything you tell them. I've actually butted in on sales in the computer department at best buy when the dumb kids are down right lying to the customer about a computer being able...
My first computer came with a voodoo unknown back them and still unknown. It was a gateway 555mhz something something.
Once I bought my own computer, a Sony vaio with a 1.8ghz p4 and a tnt2 32mb I never went to anyone but Nvidia.
tnt2>ti4200>6800>8800>gtx260>hopefully sli with another 260 or...
The fan has never sped up when under a load. It's always spun very slow, only when I set it to a certain speed does it change.
A reboot seems to have fixed it. I dodged a bullet with that one. I mean tax time is here but I also just had an accident so it's new truck vs new computer parts and I...
Evga GTx260 896mb
I was just playing burnout paradise when all of a sudden the screen froze, went blank and came back on with tons of artifacts, I quickly saved and closed it and check the temps, it was at 74c and the fan wasn't even blowing.
I'm getting artifacting in windows badly right now...
I've got the same problem. Crysis allbeit the only game i've played to an extent so far on windows 7 crashes non stop, when it does manage to work it has a lot of hiccups can't play it unless i turn down the graphics and blast the gpu fan to 100%. Never had to do that in windows xp. I just did a...
Ok, some how I manage to fry my cpu and a stick of memory.
Only way Im typing this is by running my e6400 at minimum clock and multi settings(1.6ghz)
The motherboard is fine, and actually the cpu is priming away with no problems at it's current speed. So Im upgrading my computer and handing...
I snagged a personal water dispenser powered by an unknown # of watts peltier that was on clearance for $9. I used it once for my drinks but the bottle only holds like 1/2g of liquid and that's easily used up while sitting at the computer. And walking up and down the stairs is healthier.
I...
I really didn't see how specs would help much in this situation.
Asus P5ne-sli
Core 2 duo E6300
WD Caviar 250gb Sata 3.0gbs
Lite-on dvd-rw
evga 8800gts 640mb
You know I really thought a new computer and a faster hard drive and a fresh install was the answer but nope, it's still as slow as my AMD K6, hell even that boots faster!
I'd say it takes about 8-12 bar passes to load, but once it's loaded its all bloop, bloop, beep, welcome you've got mail...
I just bought an antec trio 630w and it didn't fix the problem...
I manage to get memtest to boot off a cd, and it returned over 1000 errors. I narrowed it down to one stick. I so I'm gonna have to rma it.
Here are my specs.
Asus P5B sli
Dual core duo e6400
2 x 1024 Patriot ddr2 400
8800gts
WD Caviar Sata
Lite-On DVD-rw
All on a 430w thermaltake
Is it starved for power? It has crashed a couple times and locked up and I can only imagine it being starved of power.
Voltages and temps don't seem to...
I have a 430w psu suitable for a 24pin mobo and has 1 6pin pci express connection, more than enough for one 800gts, I will buy a new psu that's sli certified when i get another 8800gts.
I like western digital, I haven't owned anything else and have never had a problem.
Wouldn't hurt the check all the little connections for the buttons and such if you haven't already.
but know that i read that it would randomly shut down i bet its your cpu/motherboard because mine shut off a few times in the past couple weeks and now it's fried and won't boot
OKAY! Final revisions have been made.
I want a sli board for future upgrading. I will be getting a bigger monitor and hopefully a month later another 8800gts.
I already have a psu capable of running one 8800, so that will come later.
