Ok, here's my dilemma.
My friend bought an iBuyPower machine with water cooling this past December. In March, his computer told him that his CPU fan failed (or speed too low), but he restarted it and it began working again.
Now, the error has come up again, except the computer will not...
URGENT!
I accidentally broke off the power switch on my computer case. I MUST turn on the computer (my Powerbook is in for repair)
Is there a way to turn on the computer using the power supply power switch?
Hey,
I'm in a little bind here. My brother was in desperate need for a new computer (his Dell broke), so I gave my the HTPC rig you see on the bottom of my signature. Because of such, I am desktop-less. It is a near-requirement that I have the ability to work on two computers.
My...

So I built an HTPC for my room, with Media Center and all that good stuff.
I have set MCE to record certain shows at late times. So I have to leave my computer on overnight...
No problem with that, but I like to sleep to some AM radio, and I can't. The computer is creating interference...
I purchased the following hardware along with XP MCE for my new system.
2.26 GHz Pentium 4
ECS motherboard
512 MB PC2700
Apollo nVidia GeForce MX5600 (DX9 compatible)
Hauppauge PVR-150MCE
250 GB HD.
Is this sufficient? I'm getting the impression looking around osme places that it's not.
I currently have a royal pain in the ass in a Belkin 802.11g router (bought it before 802.11g was approved).

I want to connect my PS2 to the Internet via my wireless network. I got a Belkin 54g router for $30 at Circuit City, and it has the option to work as an Access Point. Is that what I need to do?
This is one of those total n00b questions.
I have a wireless network serving to about six computers, each usually on in a room where a member of the family stays.
I want to be able to send messages to certain computers when I want to.
Is there a sort of "network instant messenger"...
Do these even exist? I want to have internal speakers (with magnetic sheilding, of course  ) in one of my mods, but i don't want an ugly wire coming out.

Is that really a computer? As in, is that a motherboard with memory and a CPU? If so, I'd like to bid on it and maybe create a mini-computer...
I'm building a plexi case that I want to paint a nice black.
I want to make it so that, when the character LCD is off, it looks like nothing is there, and when it's on, it looks like the text matches the case.
I haven't started yet, so all ideas are appreciated.
And recommend an LCD...
I've already started a wood thread, now it's time for an aluminum one.. I may build this out of aluminum instead, not sure.
What machinery would I need? Where can I get some? What are the costs?
Maybe we should start an FAQ.
I've decided to build a wood case for an HTPC I'm building. I want it to match the furniture in my room.
I have two questions about that:
- How do you people keep your wood cases cool? It's a system-on-a-budget, so I'm not watercooling. Will fans work? If so, how big and where...
I've often lunked to an 800-watt Panasonic system I was considering for TV and computer sound output. I'm willing to sacrifice TV output if the sound is better with the Klipsch.
What would you suggest?

I have an S-Video out on my nVidia graphics card. My 3-year-old Sony projection TV has an S-Video in and the red/white/yellow inputs.
What are my options here? What cable do I need?
Ok, here's my story: Last year, I purchased a 15 GB 3rd Gen iPod, brand new, at the Apple Store. It's been working fine and beautifully until about a week ago. It has recently been popping off (it emits a small "pop" sound) at random when I play music, right after it has been fully charged...
