I didn't understand your question then. I wouldn't think that a video card would have any effect at all on a console system, since the system has it's own dedicated graphics processors. For a video card to have any effect on it, wouldn't it have to be trying to render the source itself anyway?

Shouldn't base a purchase off pretty static pictures if you're wanting a good gaming and movie viewing screen. Of course the statics look good. Move ever so slightly though and it gets ugly real fast.

Hopefully this turns out inaccurate. I really wanted a 22" with the same specs and panel type as the 20". I found a 24" to be a little too big for gaming actually.

It doesn't really matter how it's done, the fact remains that LCD blacks are terrible compared to CRT, and that's all that matters. And who runs their CRT at 60hz anyway?

Not sure if this is what you were implying, or were just making a statement to the reviewed monitor, but the NEC uses IPS, not TN. And from what I've read so far, it's supposed to be using the same panel in the 22 as it does the 20.

Nice review. I recently returned a 24 inch Acer, so I doubt I will pick up this one, but good review regardless. I will probably just hold out for the 22 inch Nec MultiSync 22WGX, as I find their 20 inch seems a bit small, yet a 24 inch was simply too big for me.

Acer has a lot of input lag. Hell, using a G5 mouse set to 2000 dpi with this monitor is much slower than 800 dpi on a CRT. Considering the human eye and brain cannot process much more than 72 fps, I highly doubt you can discern what you think you are.

So, I just sent the Acer back, and it looks like I've basically thrown $150 (15% fee and shipping) down the drain simply because I had to deal with mail order only. The CC and BB around here don't really have what I was looking for. Now I have to wait about a week to get my money back, and am...

Then you probably simply '"adjusted" to them. And I'm sure if you were used to moderatly crappy panels, the Acer would be fantastic for you. I never "got used to" the input lag, motion blur, locked refresh rates and "blacks are grey", and don't really feel I should have to.

How long have you been using LCD screens? The Acer was my first after gaming on a 19 inch CRT for seven years and I notice ALL of the noted drawbacks of LCD's and then some. Who knows if the monitor I got was defective, but I doubt that is the case. The image quality is superior to my old CRT...

How do you know that NewEgg will have these on sale in a few days, do you work there? I have the Acer, and it has noticeable input lag and the viewing angles are terrible and the lighting is not uniform. Move slightly and your screen will either brighten or darken. Colors are nice, as is the image quality, but the motion blur is horrible, and the Acer is supposed to be better...

Since it's not adjustable height wise, how high is the bottom of the screen from the desk? I'm sure it would be easy enough to find something to set the monitor on top of for better height, but still pretty annoying.

You must have had a much more responsive screen with better viewing angles then. Either that, or constant motion blurring doesn't bother you at all...or you can't really see it. Seriously considering just getting the NEC. Maybe scaling down the screen size will actually go a long way in...
