After my PC was damaged by FedEx, I decided to venture into the world of water cooling. I've done a bunch of research on it in the past, but I never did it because I didn't have the extra cash around. My PC was insured for $500, so I can afford it now. I just got some 4" ABS pipe and fittings...
Mineral oil is nonconductive and clear. It's long been ruled out by modders as a solution 'cause you'd have to buy lot of little bottles of it and it's fairly expensive. I recently found a local place that handles up to 6500 gallons of mineral oil at a time, and if anyone is interested I could...
I had a long drawn out SNAFU with him recently, and it's yet to be resolved. :mad: I haven't heard from him since... June or July. :confused: He's not responding to emails or PM.
Does anybody talk to him regularly? If so, please tell him to contact me.
I absolutely CANNOT get my DFI LanParty UltraB mobo to recognize a Samsung drive.. I just got this one back on RMA, new, and it won't touch it. Yet my POS 10gb seagate works wonderfully with it. What is the deal? I can't even install Windows. It just gets to the point where it says 'System is...
I got a windowed one, and I have a pristine one left with no defects. It's silver, has the locking handle, and an factory-installed 80mm fan hole. Quiet clear fan included, and some thumbscrews! This is for the Mid-tower version of these cases, AKA four 5.25" bays. Maybe you wanted a window, but...
I just got a new (to me) DFI LanParty NFII Ultra B motherboard. I installed it in my system last night. First, I got a siren and the diagnostic LEDs told me something was wrong. Clear CMOS, it POSTs, but doesn't boot. I go to bed. Next morning, I fiddle with the IDE channels getting everything...
I've got $100 to spend, and I've got available to me a 5600 Ultra(must be that card- http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=784326) for $95, or a Lanboy Ultra B for $100. Currently, I have a MSI KT3 Ultra 2, which I don't like, and is constantly mis-identifying my CPU as a 1500+ (it's a 2100+)...
80mm Vantec Tornado. This amazing fan pushes 84CFM at 5700RPM! This is probably the most powerful 80mm fan there is. Power wires are bare, but signal wire has motherboard header. Missing sticker on back. $7 shipped to the continental US.

When I get a new PM, I get a dialog box telling me so. Then I get another dialog box that asks me if I want to open it in a new window- if I click 'OK' to open it in a new window, nothing happens. It would be ideal if the PM opened in a new tab.
Thanks!
Simple enough, I just need a mousepad. I like to have a big area to use, so a large mousepad would be great. I'm not looking for a Ratzpadz class mousepad, but I don't want the beat up one that came with your mom's Dell. Let me know what you've got.
Thumbscrews are SOLD OUT! Thanks! Quantities on fan screws are limited.
Thumbscrews are $0.25 ea, or 10 for $2. Black fan screws are $0.10 each. Shipping on any amount is $.50. Quarter not included.
I'm not a dealer, I picked up a bunch but ended up not using 'em.
I take non-CC...
This is the product of many hours of the part of an enthusiastic teenager. I've put too much effort into this case. My friend gave it to me- immediately I had big plans for it. First, I just wanted to paint it blue and put a few fans in. Then a window. Then two more fans on top. Then some 120mm...
I've put too many hours into trying to find an ATI card that would work for both CAD and gaming- the 9000 PRO was compatible, but I wanted something better for gaming. Is the nVidia 5600 Ultra what I'm looking for? You all know about gaming- but for CAD, the card compatibility selector is here...
The split, ergonomic type. Yeah, the funky arrow keys one. I've had two, both have died (become erratic) from having juice spilled on them. The most recent, this afternoon. Now I need a new one. Got one?
I bought a 2100+ on here a few months ago, and have been using it for a few months. I've noticed a few times that the BIOS reads it as a 1500+. I didn't really care, since it wasn't slowing me down much. I decided to do something about it last night. If I load the 'High Performance Defaults", it...
This is some thing you'd likely dig out of some jurassic computer with 3" of dust in it. I want it to run my VFD. MUST have one internal header- if it has an header that runs to a port on the PCI slot cover, that'd good too. See pic here. Searching at retailers, I get deluged for SATA cards. I...
Got my RAM.
Also, looking for a 2.1 speaker system. My brother bough some Altec-Lansing 221s and was very satisfied with them. In fact, my parents bought a set on ebay for the family computer. Something on par with these would be good. Reputable brand names are good, no-name generics are a...
I just got an email from a known address, which could easily be spoofed, but it has the same signature as I've always seen coming from this person.
The subject is: Lacie FireWire AIT Drive
No text in the body.
And it wants me to download: LaCie - AIT Tape Drive FireWire & USB.pdf
I...
I'm currently putting a bit of stress on my current webhost by hosting a ton of large (400k) images that are uncompressed. Does anybody know of a program that automate the compression process, to get the images to a good small filesize?
Ive got some various goods for sale, theyve been accumulating around here and its time to clean up. If you have a good gaming video card, drop me a line. I might trade, depending on the card, with cash as needed. All prices are shipped with delivery confirmation, except as noted. Items which...
I have a nifty Flex-ATX PSU I'm using for a mod. For some reason, the ATX power connector on it is about 2 feet long. I only need it to be 9" or so. Is there any reasonable way to shorten this up not going to the extreme of just cutting it, and resoldering the wires? How do the sockets inside...
I bought a nice nifty 2.5" laptop hard drive for a mod I'm doing, and a adapter to go to the 40-pin IDE. I've got it all set up right. When I boot, the drive shows up as primary slave with the appropriate name. However, when I get into Windows, there's not drive there. I can feel that the...
I painted a 5.25 bay HDD Cooler:
with KILZ hammered texture blue spraypaint. I'd now like to use it in another case, which requires changing the color. I don't want to just paint over it, because I'd have to primer a couple times, then paint to get over the current layer, it'd end up pretty...
I'd always known that for some reason windows doesn't always let you access all resolutions, but it's never been a problem until now. I want to use 1152X864, but I only have 1024X768 or 1280X1024, among the lower ones. I'm on 1280x now, but all my graphics suck on this monitor (Crappy compaq...
I have one of these:
that has no key. I ripped it from a gayway 2000 or something. I read that save for diameter, this type of key is generic. Does anybody know where I could get a key for this? Somebody wants me to install one of their machine for them, and I'm hoping I can use this one...
My friend gave me a dead 80gb Samsung SpinPoint hard drive. I wish I could get it to work, but alas, after all my efforts- it is dead. Nada. Zip. If I try to boot from it, it gets all pissy and just wants to restart halfway into booting. I tried booting from an XP cd, running repair to get into...
Today I've gotten 4 odd emails, I know they haven't come from anybody I know(unless somebody is playing a mean prank) and they all ask me to download something. Chances of it being a virus- 98%. Anybody know what I should do? Transcripts of emails follow:

I saw this flash anim in which.... well... watch.
Now that you know what I'm talking about... I want to know how to do that. I found this code:
function shake() {
if (parent.moveBy) {
for (i = 15; i > 0; i--) {
for (j = 2; j > 0; j--) {...
This would seem to be an easy thing to do, but everybody I've asked doesn't know how to do it. I need to print a large image on 4 pieces of paper, then tape them together to get one big image. This is for a template. Anybody know how to do this? Thanks!
I deal with a lot of people who are very new to computers, and they ask me to explain to them how they work. What do you think is the best analogy of a computer to something most people will understand?
I'm talking about what all the different components do- what they can be related to that...
