To get ReadyBoost to kick in just right click on your SD or USB and click properties... Readyboost will be on the tabs. Just click on it and test to see if the item is readyboost compatable. Good luck! T

The way I understand the economy of computer/laptop sales is you don't make money on the computer/laptop you sell, you make the money on the stuff that goes WITH the laptop. Extended warranties, software, mice, pads, keyboards, cases, etc are where your margin will be. T

Could it be a motherboard hard coded protection mode due to potentially too much heat for the fans to dump? T

Anyone play with ReadyBoost much yet? I picked up a 4 gig SD card (thanks woot.com) but due to work have not had a chance to test it other than to put it in and see if it works with ReadyBoost (it does). BTW for those planning on using SD card for ReadyBoost, please be aware the SD card sticks...

If you scroll up a bit (400 or so up) you'll see it was tried and failed (artic silver), the CPU uses some type of pad between the heat sink and the processor, you need the thickness of the pad to transfer heat and AS would not be thick enough. T

I bought a bunch of USB Fans from woot a while back (similar to http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/accessories/5dee/) They work great to keep everything cool on the system. T

The IR port is between the network on/off switch and the blue audio connector on the very front of the unit. If its actually hooked up to anything I have no idea.. but thats where the IR sensor is :) T

I've not tried Vanguard yet, but in both WoW and EQ1 and EQ2 you can pretty much turn every single graphic FX on with zero slow down... I keep TRYING to slow the frame rate by turning stuff on... no luck yet... I'm on Vista and am having no problems gaming with it... T

We are all kinda biased here about the Everex. I've bought 2 personally. I've yet to see a single person say anything REALLY bad about the unit (other than some lame keyboard layout desisions) T

The sound system on this is really great, you can crank these speakers to the point of annoying your girlfriend! :) At max vol with a loud source you'll get a bit of vibration sound but other than that its really good. T

Yeah I made the mistake of leaving a DVD in my Everex when I shut down....ONCE :) Turned it on and the damn thing sounded like a garbage disposer. T

Back orders are regional. Office Max has warehouses all over. When you enter your zip it checks your local warehouse. If they are out locally its backordered and they need to get it from another location. So one guy might have 500 locally and another has none... Good luck in getting one...

I just read those reviews and all I can say is... W T F... the things they rip on the Everex for are praised on the other systems? I'd like to see who pays for advertising on that site.... I bought 2 of the Everex systems for far less than I would have paid for ONE of those other two...

I have to step up and say.. yup got 2 as well.. 1 for me 1 for my girlfriends birthday today.. (the 13th)... let's just say it was WELL received when I gave it to her last night.... You honestly can't go wrong on these things, of all the ones I've seen purchased both at work (12), friends...
