"Why was there duct tape in the classroom? How did they [the students] come to have access to it," said Haas. "We'll have these answers to these questions later."
LMAO.
I can't believe that this game actually inspired such an immature rant by [H] staff on the front page. Yeah yeah we get it you hope that everyone connected to the game dies in a fire. Well I liked the game quite a bit, more enjoyable straight out of the box than Crysis (1) could ever hope to be...
I've had top-notch customer service experiences over a period of many years with Corsair, always happy to rock one of their kits...especially for free
I am about to purchase a new monitor and I was hoping to get some input from [H] crew as to whether I'd be wasting cash upgrading video cards to go with it.
Current setup:
-Samsung Syncmaster 2232BW 22" @ 1680x1050
-HD 4850 CrossFire (OC'd @ 720MHz)
New setup:
-ASUS VE278Q 27" @...
Nice snide comeback, but you know what he meant. If this is the best we can get in terms of a presence from your company then just give up man. Do you think your boss will look kindly on your soiling the company reputation because you have a chip on your shoulder? Think about it because that's...
I would consider this a con - PWM fans are preferable because you can get the same job done thru software without opening your case and turning knobs. Frio is a good choice though, also look at Coolermaster N620 and V6 GT, Corsair A70 if you like that style of cooler.
Well I'm "one-point" on Steam if you ever wanna give multi a shot hit me up. I hear ya on the HTPC hot-seat action - mostly got the game to do this in my livingroom with friends :) we play on projector and wireless keyboard/mouse being passed around, good stuff..
I'm still not convinced that extending your 'life' into the digital domain through use of such sites will be a better use of your time than offline activities. I know I won't be out enjoying myself and suddenly feel the need to tweet it, check in, whatever you call it, it all just seems so...
Made this account shortly before I built my 939 rig I believe...Opty 146, MSI NF4 mobo, X800GTO2, water cooled :) fun times. Now my buddy uses it for playing online poker..
I honestly don't think the 6-core will be noticeably faster in audio work with the possible exception of rendering. I run a 965 at 3.8GHz and my most complex projects rarely even approach 50% CPU usage with tons of VSTs, effect automation, samples, etc..
3.6 was easy to get on my old 940 - 3.8 difficult to stabilize but I got it in the end  so you should be seeing a small gain over the Q6600 at least in this regard.
I say go for it man, half of the reason to own a high-end rig is the fun of upgrading and maintaining it in my opinion...
BFBC2 is a great game, especially at the sale price. I would say try Dead Space before you buy though, many people recommended that game to me but I found it unplayable due to the awful console port control scheme.
Some valid points, but honestly do we really need people like this coming out to apologize for a corporation that couldn't care less about them? Get some priorities
Tried contacting ASUS regarding this? I'm willing to bet it's a BIOS 'feature' that causes the CPU to throttle down when it would otherwise exceed the power handling capacity of the board..
At my workplace we got a few kits of Steelseries V2 for testing purposes and I can tell you right now they flat-out suck, no matter your intended use. Skip 'em and try out something else...anything else...
This. I'm psyched to pick up at 6870 now assuming US pricing falls in line with this. Finally a performance upgrade for my 4850CF without paying out the ass. This reminds me of when the 3870 was released, but the 6870 is at a better performance point.
I'm going off what's in my area of course, but personally I would hit up Guitar Center, Fry's Electronics and Best Buy. Make sure you do this with the intention of *not* making a purchase, because all of these places will try to rip you off to some degree. However they do have headphones and...
Crucial's 8500 kits were almost guaranteed to contain Micron D9-type ICs which OC'd extremely well, thus people burned out these kits at a really rapid rate. Personally went through 4 kits of them. The last one I had I absolutely babied and it ended up dying after a year at 1.8 - 2.0v :(
It caused a lot of commotion when it was revealed shortly before the i7's came out...glad to hear you have a replacement on the way! That kit should definitely not have killed your i7 running at stock volts :\
AMx = AM2/AM3
I'd suggest something like this if height constraints are your main purchasing factor:

Even though it's only 2 heatpipes it's complete overkill for a 65W non-overclocked chip I can assure you :) it was quieter than the PSU...
Intel states that using memory voltage over 1.65v will permanently damage Core i7 LGA1366 CPUs. The RAM you linked is 1.6v, so if you ran it at spec voltage you are well within the limits of the CPU's tolerance. This is why it pays to do your homework before you contact tech support - so that...
4850 Crossfire here, and I'm itching for more video performance on newer titles. 5870/5850 were too pricey for my taste, so I'm hoping to snag a 6800-series card if prices are more competitive this time around.
Hm...5870 is $350-$400. If 6870 = 95% of 5870, I'd pay $300 for that without any issue. No need to assume I haven't read just because we took away something different.
Count me in for a 6870, especially if it comes in at $300 or less which I think there is definitely a chance for if it is Barts XT.
There's also the distinct possibility this has all been FUD and we'll be seeing this card as "6770" as originally hinted.
Do both cards show up in the device manager? If not, then try cleaning the PCI-E interface pins on the cards and reseating.
If both cards do show up, run GPU-Z and make sure they are both running at the right link speed. If either card is running at less than x8 link speed you may not be able...
Just grab a Zalman VF700 for around $20, that will get it running nicely again without breaking the bank.
It's very easy to install too, dunno about your experience with aftermarket VGA cooling but even if it's your first attempt you should have no trouble. Hope this helps :)
It could be something to do with the CPU wattage rating of the motherboard. That board has no cooling on the mosfets and is rated for 140W CPU "max" according to the ASUS site. Assuming you have the 125W 1055T, you are pushing 190W with your overclock and that's quite risky on your board.
