Just got 2 new Vika tables with pine table tops, $80 a pop. My last table was also a vika, but a black-brown laminate that appeared dirty the day after wiping.
Main complaint is that the Vika individual legs are quite rocky. Get any typing/vibration or writing motion going, and my monitor...
Don't have the greyscreen problem, but the 2D/idle/desktop crashes are no longer coming up for me on my 5770 after switching the Windows desktop theme from Aero to Basic. It's been a week now, and not one crash. Touch wood.
Just got mine this past Tuesday, and it's been working okay.
Major issue so far has been 2 2D, Win 7 desktop crashes. The first time, the drivers 'recovered', but it was sluggish afterwards. The second time, it kept trying to recover, but never quite made it (went from black screen to partial...
My Blu-ray drive died less than a month after buying it. This isn't normal, your BD is likely on the verge of dying so take it back to the store while you still can.
Is it flickering all the time like even after half-an-hour after you turn the power on? I noticed my 2407 was flickering a month back, but also noticed that it only occurred during the first 10 minutes or so when the CFLs are warming up. After some googling, it's pretty normal as long as it goes...
Is the bleed permanent or does it go away after a while? For some weird reason, I have major backlight bleed on my monitor for the first 20 minutes or so after first power up. However, it virtually disappears after being on for a while.
Last time I read, and from what I know, you can buy the extended warranty from Sony as long as your system is still IN warranty. That sounds like anytime in the 1 year window from the time you bought it onwards. No idea what your options are outside that. Think the Q&A says you can't.
You can surf around and there might be a fix from scavenged PS3 parts. That or just pay $150 to Sony and get it fixed. I'm definately getting the extended warranty now...
Nothing. I never touch it and since it's vertical, dust build-up is minimal. I can count on one hand how many times I've touched my screen. I never touched my first LCD on the screen once and it lasted over 1.5 years. Looked great the day I sold it.
I read over the Dell return/warranty policy a lot last week, and seem to remember a 15% restocking fee too. Is this a recent change? I remember a year ago when it was still 21 days, full refund.
Mines just broke last Friday too (BD stopped reading anything). It lasted a whole 4 weeks (woohoo, pay full price for refurb) while our Xbox 360 took 7 months to RRoD. All comes down to luck, neither POS is more reliable.
If it makes you feel better, my "reliable" 4 week old PS3 just died on me too: drive doesn't read anything anymore. The pisser is that I still gotta go through Sony cause I bought it from Dell (I knew this from the start, so can't complain much). Our 360 lasted 7 months, RROD'd 2 weeks back.
lolol
I'd be so pissed if they were doing that to me, but it's hilarious:). Too bad I turn voice off usually, that much swearing and hostility is entertaining.
I haven't tried Lair yet, but is it as bad as they say? Ratchet and Clank uses the Six-axis for the glider and it wored pretty well, so did Lair just screw up the implementation?
OP should give Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden and Kane & Lynch demos a try. The first two are similar, but are...
I could really use that HDMI port right now.. (2407 owner)
Are those specs right? 1080i/p, mainly the p, over component? I know component technically can, but I haven't seen many that do.
EB, Futureshop and very rarely, Best Buy. My local EBs are crowded and they usually price stuff at MSRP so that's my second choice on new releases. Futureshop usually intices you to buy by lowering the price by $10 for the first week so I just go for it.
Ours just RROD'd on Friday. Worked once after turning it off, then perma-RROD'd. It's being sent out once the box arrives. This is our first one and lasted only 7 months. Lucky I put my money into a PS3.
It's pretty bad. While it works and you can go places, some stuff doesn't work/show properly. Also, I just can't stand browsing one browser at a time anymore. I'm running two explorer windows side by side right now and that's just taking a step too far back. The best thing about the PS3 browser...
Ya, I was being blinded for over half a year by my 2407 even with the backlight set to near zero. I finally managed to mitigate the problem by using a backlight; putting an actual lamp behind monitor (backlighting). I'm using an Ikea lamp I "retired" and a 7W 400 lumen 4100k bulb cause a 10w 490...
None:). Just get an LCD TV and use that as a monitor.
I'm running my PS3 on my 2407 but there are way too many potential issues surrounding consoles on monitors. It's not that they don't work, it's just that it takes too much work just to find one that has 1:1 pixel mapping and properly...
Patch doesn't even run for me. It just stalls at the window of the installer where the "Update" button shows up. Downloaded from 3 different places, did a complete reinstall and still nothing. Just wiped my "Profile" files, going to give it one more shot.
Edit:
Nice, turns out there was...
With no boxes, I'd just wait and put them in your car. Pretty risky packing it in a U-haul with lots of other stuff that could fall onto/crush the screens. Regardless, you could find a box that fits, then take off the stands and rap the panels in a lot of cloth/clothes if you're desperate. Also...
I was about to get a keyboard until I actually googled "ps3 keyboard compatible".
Long story short, many USB wired + wireless should work, but there are many who can't get certain models to work. Also, it appears that Bluetooth keyboards are unsupported as of yet. Best idea is to google the...
It's pretty weird. When you first find it, you worry about it so much that it actually looks big. I remember when I saw mine, it looked huge and I could pin point it everytime. Now, even on a white background, it takes me a while to find.
Got my PS3 a week back, sent my "rebate" in this past Monday. I've heard stories of them taking months to ship out your stuff, hope that's not the norm. Then again, most of the movies they offered sucked. I had to choose SWAT and Stir of Echoes, which I've never heard of, out of desperation.
You can save quite a bit with the Router option, but I think they may have lowered the price of the official wireless adapter. In Canada, it's gone from ~$120 to $100 and "only" $80 for sale these past 2 weeks. Guess it all depends if the ~$30 difference is worth a bit more clutter or not... So...
Just stop caring and you won't notice it. Given the dot-pitch of a 24", dead pixels are pretty hard to notice unless they're dead center. I just held onto my 2407 cause I didn't want to go through the hassle of a return cause of one pixel near a corner. The first month was agony cause I had to...
I'm not sure about that... My PS3 is hooked up to my 2407 through component (DVI occupied and don't want analog PC or a DVI switch) running at 720p. According to specs, only DVI has HDCP, not component.
I'm not sure what's going on with OP, but have you tried plugging it into a normal TV...
About 15 hours. It was actually too long considering that some story twists just dragged the game on way longer than necessary. Maybe this bothered me more cause R&C was bundled and I felt obliged to finish it before moving on to stuff I bought (i.e. really wanted to play).
Just got my first console in about 10 years last week: PS3.
Reason I "switched" was that I just got sick of the "lag" period between releases. My PC game cycle for years has been super fun month, 2 months of mediocre crap with a week or two of absolutely nothing to do but surf, then rinse...
Resistance, but I'm not sure if it's worth $60 or not. I'll get it once it's $40. Same goes for Heavenly Sword. Try the demos.
Ratchet & Clank is ok, worth a rental, but it's aimed towards kiddies.
I just picked up Fight Night 3 for $30 and am having a blast. If you're even a little into...
If you can, take a day off and download demos. Just got my PS3 on Thursday and so tried Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, Heavenly Sword and Gundam. R&C is pretty good as a platform game, looks nice (got full version with bundle). Resistance is ok, definately worth a rent, not really a buy. Gundam is...
Ya, the black tone shift is a bit annoying, but after a while you become desensitized to it. I barely notice it anymore on my 2407, but can remember clearly how I kept shifting my head left and right trying to see a bit more of the dark. Just wish IPS panels were more common.
Ordered one last Friday, should be here by the end of the week. Personally, I'm interested in picking up Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Ninja Gaiden and Ratchet & Clank (comes with bundle:)). Forgot to add, going to pick up Resistance tomorrow too if I can find it at Wal-mart (Boxing Day sale so...
I'll admit that I don't care all that much about opened copies at EB World cause they seem to do that with most of their copies. However, I still prefer a sealed product and can understand people who refuse to buy opened boxes. And why in the hell do they feel the need to open about 5+ copies of...
Unless it's dead center, live with it. The only real issue with a single stuck pixel is the "I got a blemish" feeling. It's very hard to notice once you past the emotional pain.
I have one in the bottom left region of my 2407. I went crazy for about a month when I found out, and lost sleep wondering if I should return it or not. Now, I don't care. For the past month or two, I don't even remember or notice the dead pixel unless I read a post about "dead pixels" and look...
