Suddenly I have this folder on my desktop, and all I can do is delete it. If I browse the internet for a while, it just reappears. I can't find any info on it and I have no idea why it appeared out of nowhere. Thoughts?
I know this seems stupid, but I have never had a board go out on me in 20 years, so I am not sure. If I replace my defective Asus board (fuck you Asus support/RMA), with a different board, will I have to format and reinstall everything on my drive? Or is there a way to get my HD to plug into...
I ran 3dmark06 and got a score of 16500. That seems very low for my system, so I am wondering where the issue might be. Thoughts perhaps? I am wondering if something is wrong. I am running the newest Nvidia drivers. I am not overly obsessed with benchmark scores or anything, but I do think...
I am trying to hook up 2 BFG GTX285s in SLI. One is a 2gb card and 1 is a 1gb card, and I have read in numerous places that they should work in SLI, albeit at 1gb. I can get them installed and the system recognizes them, but the Nvidia control panel will NOT display any SLI related choices. I...
I RMA'd two 280s identical 280s and got a 2gb GTX285 OC and a 1gb GTX285 OCX from BFG back. Will they run together in SLI? I have heard that the card will downclock to the slowest and eliminate the use of added RAM so they match since they are both 285s, but wanted to be sure.
Am I missing something or is there no way to move the IE icon over the right side of the taskbar, over by the notification icons? I am used to having everything on the right side, but when I drag the IE and Win Explorer icons, they just move right back.
Awesome support. I had 2 GTX280s and had problems with one. I sent it in and a few months later had issues again with it. I sent it in again and they sent me back a 2gb GTX285. I called and said "hey, thats nice and all but it won't work with my other 280." So, they had me send my other 280...
I just got a new RV042 as a replacement for my old defective router from Linksys and upon installing it and running Shieldsup, it shows port 113 as closed and 443 as open. This was just with setting it up normally. I have never had a router show any non stealthed ports before. I have...
Ran Memtest for a day and it showed 1 error. Does Memtest always indicate a bad stick of ram or can the error be something more temporary and not necessarily indicative of a stick that needs to be replaced?
I know they always have some ways to acquire the new OS, usually the Ultimate version for free or greatly reduced. I got Vista before and Xp from various promos and was wondering if anyone has heard anything yet about possible promos? Retail, school, etc.
My machine has been running fine with no hitches since I built it, and last week I turned it off and went on vacation. Now, after returning, I powered it on, and then it froze on me after using it for a few minutes. Upon rebooting, now at the bios loading screen, it displays a message saying...
I have an Asus P6T Deluxe with onboard Audiomax and have a Creative SB Xtreme Gamer installed also. I have speakers plugged into the Creative card and it only works when I have the onboard Audiomax enabled in bios and drivers installed for it. I have tried to remove the Audiomax drivers and...
I cannot get my history drop down to open at all in IE8 unless I turn on Autocomplete. If I do, then it works, even if I shut it off again, at least until I close the browser and reopen it. Anyone know if there is a way around this? I really cannot imagine that the drop down arrow button only...
I am just wondering what a reasonable temperature should be for a board? I am getting up to around 61c on my Asus P6T deluxe from Asus probe and it thinks that it too high. Not really sure what a reasonable temp is.
Good Lord. I just knocked my i7 920 up to 3ghz to test it out and pushed the ram up a bit and it was the easiest OC ever. Changed the clk to 150 and knocked the vcore up to 1.25 and done. Wow. Easiest 15% I ever got out of my processor.
Now...the temptation for...more....:D
When I click the history drop down on the address bar in IE, it is storing EVERYTHING i look at, including my local files and folders. How do I make it stop doing this and store only websites? Obviously this is a Vista feature, since I have never seen this in XP.
Never used a hardware router/firewall before, so I am wondering if there are any specific settings or things I need to do to insure that it is secure and protected.
I finally got all my parts and after a long, arduous 8 hours...it is complete. It seemed like everything that could go wrong did and patching Vista took forever. Ah well...now I just have to test stability but it seems good so far.

I am going to set up a network at home using a Linksys BEFSX41 Firewall Router. There is no reason I need any kind of software firewall also right? Just want to be sure that I can ditch the software firewall after I set it up and that there is not any reason I should use one in addition to the...
I finally bought every last piece...I just can't find a good aftermarket cooler for the i7 yet. I was thinking the Thermalright 120, but I can't find the 1366 version yet. I heard next week...frustrating to have ordered everything else and have to wait at least another week to order the last...
I am kicking around either buying some Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D 6GB PC3-12800+ (DDR3-1600+) CL8 Triple Channel Memory Retail (the Dominator stuff with the snazzy heatsinks) or Corsair TR3X6G1333C9 6GB PC3-10666 CL9. The price difference is about $43 per 6gb and I am buying 12gb. I may OC it a...
Not sure if this is targetted only, but I got an email from Half.com for an old account I used to have a long while back that gave me a code for 15% off 1 item at Ebay when I pay with paypal. Code is CEBAYHALF2008. Maybe it will work for someone.
Damn near impossible to find any 6gb DDR3 kits out there yet...kind of irritating. I am REALLY looking for them on Ebay so I can get the much need 25% off the huge cost of the 6gb kits. Anyone have any luck?
I have an HP All in One and I have always hated HP drivers. They always cause problems and seem rather bloated...wondering if anyone knows of any good manufacturers with good, lean drivers that are not bloated and do not conflict with a bunch of stuff?
I have always been a champion of Seagate and have never used anything else, as I knew some people with bad WD experiences in the 90s (one bad experience with computer parts always colors you for life doesn't it?). My experience with Seagate has never been anything but stellar, but I am...
I have always wondered, really, what is the disadvantage of using the Windows firewall, as opposed to a Zonealarm, Norton, etc., product? I mean, is there really a security difference or is it just features, etc?
Looking to replace my old case when I build a new machine. Anyone have suggestions on a great case that is a full tower, aluminum chassis and has great airflow/cooling. I do not water cool and do not plan to, I just want something that keep the stuff as cool as can be with air cooling. I do...
I so wish I could use this. I cannot get any of the secure pages to load...i.e. the Cashback Account button, the Help button, nothing. Anything that is httpS does not load, it just times out. Been that way for as long as I have been trying to get on the site. I must need to change something but...
I have sifted through tons of reviews and arrived at the conclusion that...I have no idea. Anyone have a recommendation on a 24" or so monitor that performs very well at gaming? Obviously something that looks good and doesn't tear or artifact, etc. I do not care about the monitor's aesthetics...
From what I have read, am I wrong in understanding that there will be a 4850, 4870 and the top of the line will be something like a 4870x2? Also, if that is right, the expectation is that you will be able to use 2 4870x2 cards in Crossfire and they are going to be similar in performance to 2...
I was looking at parts for a new machine and was price comparing, and Zipzoomfly has pretty much every single part I was looking at cheaper than Newegg, some by a few. I personally have never had issues with them, so I was wondering if anyone else has. I mean, 4gb kits of OCZ reaper RAM, $60...
I have looked and looked and only become more unsure of the correct answer so I will just ask. If I was buying a q9450 with a 1333 mhz fsb, what would be the ideal RAM speed that would utilize the full potential of the FSB? Would it be DDR3-1333 or 2666? Assuming I have no plans to OC...
I was curious if I should have a higher VCore voltage on my 4400. It is showing at 1.296 in Asus probe and am wondering if it should be higher (I have not changed anything..that is what it is defaulting to) and if it SHOULD be higher, than maybe could that be causing BSODs?
I recently built a new system and have had repeated random crashing and BSODs. I have tried everything I can think of and still nothing. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to share as I am at the end of my rope. It crashes randomly anywhere from a few minutes after being on to a day...
